Is it required to attach photographs to my Form N-400 application?

No, you are not obligated to attach your photographs to your Application for Naturalization, Form N-400. USCIS will take your photos at the special appointment, where a USCIS officer will take your biometrics data, including your photographs.

However, USCIS requires photographs from Form N-400 applicants, who are living abroad (outside the United States territory.) If you reside in Hawaii, you will have to provide two color photos of your face. You have to include two identical recent photographs with your application for naturalization Note that if your photographs are older than six months, you must take new photos.

Make sure that no retouching will be made to your photographs. Using any color filters is also not allowed. USCIS will deny your application if any changes to your photos were made. Other requirements to photos include the size: they must be exactly 2 by 2 inches. Lastly, your entire face must be photographed with a white or off-white background to provide good contrast.
